last week I was asked, how I lost weight – we are talking 5 kilograms, so no big thing. With this question I started a conversaion with two girls about losing weight and how.
Well first thing is: I looove food. I would never start a diet, because I love eating. BUT if you really want to lose some kilos, you need to cut down a bit. Today people eat more energy, than they need. We have all the food there is and we could have everything, if we wantet to. But in the end, it is not good for us, as for human beings it is an effort to be disciplined.
The only thing that gives you the body you want, is to eat inside your calorie needs. Of course working out is a big part in starting a healthy lifestyle, but honestly, I am going to the gym once or twice a week. But I walk as many times as I can.
So here is what I did
First I did the maths. I calculated, how many calories I need to maintain weight. I used the formula whohatesbambi posted to find out, how much I need. The minimum you should eat is 1.200 calories, otherwise your body starts to get into starving mode, which causes a jojo-effect. I, for example, need 1,500 calories a day to maintain my weight. So here is the reason, why losing weight gets more difficult the thinner you already are. As I need 1,500 calories, I am only able to cut down 300 calories a day.
A girl from instagram shoed me a diet with pregnancy-hormons. They say, that you get very lean, when taking those AND only eating 500 calories a day. Okay this is no magic, this is maths AND dangerous! Pregnancy hormons are for pregnant people, not for losing weight!
NOTE: Pleasepleaseplease do not lose more weight, than needed! Nobody thinks skinny girls look good! Healthy girls and happy girls look good, because they are healthy and happy!
So to sum it up: If you want to lose weight, count calories and work out. And please do it healthily! You need energy for your daily life. And sometimes a muffin is a good idea as well! 😉
