I come to you now with a more serious topic. But it is important to notice these things, as we all live such a good life. So we should give more to those, who haven´t got the luck, we do! I do this in donating to different important foundations and charities once a year. Last year I supported the local red cross, who do a lot for the elder ones. This year I decided to donate to the Desert Flower Foundation.

Why the Desert Flower Foundation??

It is only a few years ago I read Waris Diries Book Desert Flower. This is the first time I have really heard of Female Genital Mutilation. And I had to cry. Not only because of Waris story, but I have cried for every girl who must suffer from this horrible tradition. Since then this topic did not let my heart go. The desert Flower Foundation works very hart to save the girls and I really want to support this. I usually don´t talk about my donations, but this is so important to me, that I have an urge to write about this!

About the Desert Flower Foundation

“IN 2002 WARIS DIRIE AND HER TEAM FOUNDED THE DESERT FLOWER FOUNDATION IN VIENNA WITH THE GOAL TO ERADICATE FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION FOREVER.

Worldwide 150 million women are affected by this horrible crime. According to UNICEF in Africa 30 million girls in Africa are threatened by FGM. Female genital mutilation is practiced in East, West and North Africa, South Asia, the Middle East and, because of strong immigration, in Europe, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand.

The goal of the Desert Flower Foundation is to educate and inform people worldwide, to support women affected by FGM and to save girls from this inhuman practice, which should not exist in our society in the 21th century.”
